Art at Brookview

The Art Program at Brookview School places a heavy emphasisart.jpg
on the elements of art.  The principles of color, line, form and dimension, value, texture and perspective provide a thorough understanding for creating and viewing art.  The hands-on work focuses on process and allows each child to find and develop his or her own creative voice.  When possible, integration of content being studied in the classroom is incorporated into an art project.

The students are exposed to art theory, art history and are able to determine several mediums and styles during group discussion.  It is not the rare occasion to hear an eight-year-old pinpoint a Van Gogh or Picasso.  By the time each student reaches the sixth level, he or she is able to write a report on a specific artist, create an original work of art inspired by that artist, mark the workshop3.jpg
artist on a timeline and present it to the class.

Brookview students have the opportunity to create art and explore the use of many art mediums over the course of their education including drawing, collage, watercolor, oil painting, ceramics, sculpture, felting, metalwork, photography and glassblowing.  Brookview School partners with several local Arts organizations to provide a rich and varied art experience for each student.
